Meat and Potatoes
You won't find eloquent, cascading words
in the poems that I am inspired to write.
I leave those to others - they tell of the Good News
gently - guiding those readers toward the light.

But not me - I write the "meat and potatoes" way,
I'd rather write that way than not.
Because everybody has their own way
and that's not easily forgot.

Yes, I will always write for relief of sadness
and sorrows - to God, I say:
Come quickly, O God, and help those
poor people to salvage their day.

There is always hope and love - they belong
together like the sunrise and sunset.
Hope you liked my "meat and potatoes" style
for I have rough edges as of yet.
